The life of Jesus Christ for human beings
(There is Life in Jesus Christ, and human beings need this life)
Text John 1:1-4; 5:24-27
How do we receive this life that is in Jesus Christ? To believe in him, to exalt him (John 3:14), put his word into practice (Matt 7:24-27).
Thus, wherever Jesus is exalted and believed in, his life flows. Unfortunately, humans tend to focus too much on problems, themselves, others, and even the devil instead of Jesus Christ.
Where there is sin, Jesus Christ is our deliverer (e.g., Numbers 21:4-9; John 3:14-15).
When we sin, we lose the glory, we become fallen, and even snakes can bite us. Thus, we who sin against God bring severe affliction upon ourselves, and we who sin against God, Christ is our deliverer (Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 107:17-18; John 3:14-21).
In times of conflict, Christ is the unifying saviour-Mark 10:35-45
Human conflict arises from selfishness when everyone wants their will to be done. Here, Christ teaches us to focus on service, a divine solution to conflict.
In times of death, Jesus Christ is our resurrection (John 11)
In times of death, humans don’t have life. However, Jesus Christ is life (John 1:3-4); therefore, he can give life to the dead.
In the midst of the chaos of life, Jesus calms nature (Luke 8:22-25)
Chaos arises whenever nature expresses itself; humans cannot function amid this disorder, and therefore, humans become very fearful (Luke 23:30; Rev 6:16). Here, the owner of creation steps in to calm creation. Who is great and powerful enough to do this? Only God! Conclusion: Don’t focus on the storm, but focus on Jesus Christ, and you will walk on the water miraculously (e.g. Matt 14:25-32).
