Walking in your God-ordained blessings: Predestined for God’s glory
God has blessed many people. However, they do not even know they are blessed, and some do not know how to walk in their blessings.
Text Judges 6:11-14 ; Esther 4:12-16
In the above readings, both Gideon and Esther were blessed but did not know until they were told.
What does it mean to walk in your blessings?
God, in his great plan, has destined you for his blessings; the blessings cleanse you from sin, make you holy, for his glory and purpose (e.g Eph 1:4-6).
How will you know of God’s blessings upon your life?
Through creation (Gen 1:26-28; Psalm 139:13-16): You were made special and brought to this world with special grace, abilities, positions, and opportunities.
Through the gospel. God sends his messengers to announce the good news about Jesus Christ to them. E,g, Samuel announcing the good news to David that he would be king for God (1 Sam 16; Titus 2:11-15).
Walking in the blessings of God: Examples in Scripture
People who walked in their God’s blessings were used in the salvation plan of God to save others, Gideon, from the weakest tribe and the least in his family (Judges 6:11-16)
Mary, through childbirth, gave birth to Jesus to save the world (Luke 1:26-38)
Jephthah, the son of a prostitute, but was a blessed man, God used to save Israel (Judges 11)
Esther, an orphan, but through marriage was used to save Israel through marriage (Esther 4:12-16)
Jesus Christ came to this world to save humanity from sin (John 3:16; Mark 10:45)
Why do believers fail in their walk in the blessings of God?
When they abandon their godly duties! E.g., David neglects his godly duty (2 Sam 11-12)
Amnon and Tamar: the foolishness of youthful exuberance (2 Sam 13)
Absalom: the tragedy of a prince to the throne (2 Sam 13-18)
Ahitophel: the demise of a betrayal of a godly office (2 Sam 16:23; 15:31; 17:23)
