God and the concept of birthdays(Birth is tied to God-ordained purpose)

Text Matthew 1:20-23; Phil 3:10-14

In Scripture, the birth of a person is tied to their God-ordained purpose on earth, and they will be called home when they have completed their assignment on earth. For example, Jesus Christ was born with a purpose: to save us from our sins (Matthew 1:20-23).
Mary was born to give birth to Jesus Christ (Matt 1:22-23)
Jeremiah was born to be a prophet (Jere 1:4-5);
Paul was born to be an apostle to the Gentiles and Peter to the Jews (Galatians 2:7-8).

Purpose: Why did God bring us to this world?

In Psalm 90), Moses reminds us of the following:

  • We have 70 years, or 80 if our health permits. Have you wasted your time here on earth?

  • God to teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom

  • Our sins are before God

  • A prayer to God to satisfy us in life

In Philippians 3:10-14, we are reminded to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Then one day we can say that: we have fought the good fight, finished the race (assignment), and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:6-8).
