God gives us more than we ever imagined or prayed for (A Doxology)

Doxology is an expression of praise to God at the end of a message or a hymn. Thus, since God gives us more than we ever imagined or prayed for, this message should lead us to thank and praise Him (e.g., Rev 1:5b-6). Thus, with doxology, we don’t wait for the fulfilment of God’s plan, but we praise Him for having such a good plan and purpose for us. Text Romans 5:6-8; Ephesians 3:20-21, Jere 29:4-14

Examples in Scripture

  • Saul was sent to look for lost donkeys. He went home as the king of Israel ( 1 Samuel 9-10)

  • David only wanted to build a temple for God, and God blessed him with a dynasty-kingship from his bloodline ( 2 Samuel 7; Luke 1:31-33)

  • Hannay wanted a child; God gave her a righteous prophet (1 Samuel 1).

  • Paul was killing Christians and destroying the church, but God called him to become one of the best servants of God (1 Tim 1:12-17).

Themes that go with this message

  1. We need revelation: Because of the fall, we don’t really know what is good for ourselves (James 4:1-3); God must help us (Rev. 3:14-20). Most people are wasting their lives, strength, money, and time because they do not know what is good for them.

  2. All shall be well: What God has begun in your life (if you continue in faith) will end in glory (Phil 1:6-8).

  3. Transformation: Our encounter with God will be a life-transforming one (Luke 5:8-11; John 1:47-51). People misbehave because they have not had an encounter with God—comfort to people in a bad situation (e.g., Jer 29:4-14). N.B. People who do not have faith in God are 10x likely to be depressed permanently than those who have faith in God.

  4. Praise to God: This theme leads to doxology- praise to God (e.g., Jude 1:24-25)
