Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Text Joel 2:28-29; Acts 2:1-5;
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, to help us live: empowering, convicting, sanctifying, leading us, helping us understand divinity, and so on. On the Day of Pentecost, the Promised Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28-29) came upon the early church for global missions. Since then, God’s Spirit is available to all God’s children. That Day also marked the beginning of an era, which we call the ‘last days’.
How the seed of God’s Word is spread
There were God-fearing men from every nation under heaven (Acts 2:5). Those God-fearing men took the gospel message back to their countries.
Urgent message people must hear and respond (Acts 2:36-41).
Repentance- a change of lifestyle, a turning from sin to righteousness, from curse to blessings
Faith in Jesus Christ- believe in him as the son of God, the Messiah, for the forgiveness of sins and eternal.
Baptism- our identification with Christ in death and resurrection
Godly living – living to please God as citizens of His kingdom
The rapture- the second coming of Christ to take believers
Avoiding the mark of the beast (Revelation 13:15-17)
People who will not receive the mark of the beast cannot buy or sell. Sadly, anyone who has the mark will face God’s judgement. What is at stake is whether you are a worshipper of God or the beast-the world (Rev 14:6-13 ).
