The woman gave birth to the man to save her and the world. (The Man, the Woman, and the Dragon)
Father’s Day: a celebration of grief and gratitude. The first Father’s Day was in 1908 in the USA, when a coal mine explosion killed 361 men, most of whom were fathers. A local church held an exceptional service to honour those who died—prayer: Long life, peace, and good health to all men and women.
Text Genesis 3:15; Revelation 12:1-6
In this text, Scripture tells us that the woman gave birth to the man (Jesus) to save her and the world. After the fall, God would now use the woman and her seed(man) to crush evil and save the world (Gen 3:15).
This divine battle reached its climax in Jesus Christ (Matt 2:13; Gal 4:4; 1 John 3:8). Every man and woman is engaged in this sacred battle: man is born to save, and woman is born to nurture; they have a common enemy, the dragon, the devil, who seeks to kill the man and deceive the woman.
What does the man need, prescriptively?
Work to do.
God’s commandments,
a suitable helper (Genesis 2:15-18)
Contemporary Opportunities for men: Women are hardworking to support their men.
Contemporary challenges: women have more rights, and most women rebel…
Solution: Observe God’s order of headship: God, Jesus, Man, Woman, children (1 Cor 11:3). Power struggle is the root problem in most relationships and marriages. Scripture reminds us that God is our Father in heaven: He fathers us all, especially the fatherless (e.g. Matt 6:6;9).
