The ‘Seed of the Woman’ grows to become the fathers of human society(Father’s Day sermon)
Text: Genesis 3:15; Deut. 16:16-17; Rev 12:1-5
Introduction
There are a variety of ways in which Father’s Day are celebrated. Our approach is to understand the functions of Fathers (male children) within the purposes of God. So that we also continue with the purposes of God-the salvation of humanity.
Functions of men within the purposes of God
To crush the work of the enemy (Genesis 3:15; Gal 4:4; Rev 12:5)
To give seed to the godly woman for godly offspring to continue with the purposes of God (e.g., Gen 22:18; 1 Tim 2:15; Gal 4:4)
To provide priestly leadership at home and in society (e.g., Gen. 18:18-19; Eph. 6:4)
Per God’s arrangement, the man submits to Christ, the woman submits to the man, and Christ submits to the Father (1 Cor 11:3); for God’s blessings to flow to the human society.
Challenges men face
There have always been fewer men in the world; this puts pressure on them (e.g. Isaiah 4:1).
Satan is looking to destroy men (Exo 1:22; Matt 2:13-16; Rev 12:1-5) through wars, women’s seduction, and anti-God agendas.
Because of the fall, the woman desires to control the man contrary to God’s plan (Gen 3:16
NLT
The man must feed himself and the family through painful toil (Gen 3:17-19).
Conclusion: the only hope for the man is God (Deut. 16:16-17).
