God has called everyone into his kingdom and service (Work out your salvation and service to God)
Text Matthew 22:1-14; Matthew 21:28-32; Acts 5:19-20; Eph 2:8-10
Levels of God’s calling
Calling into his kingdom for salvation and abundant life (peace, joy, righteousness, etc); you can’t have an abundant life outside of God’s kingdom
Calling into God’s service. To serve God on his missions, to be part of what He is doing, e.g., Noah built the Ark (Gen 6-8). In the NT, we are to embark on the Great Commission ( Matt 28:19-20; Acts 5:19-20).
Calling into further service of God
This depends on your faithfulness to God, e.g., the Mathew principle (25:14-30). David was anointed three distinct times to be king, these progressive anointings marking his journey from a shepherd boy to the ruler over all Israel:
First private anointing: By the prophet Samuel in Bethlehem (1 Samuel 16:1–13).
Second Anointing (Regional): By the men of Judah in Hebron after Saul’s death (2 Sam 2:1–7).
Third Anointing (National): By the elders of Israel over the entire nation (2 Samuel 5:1–5).
Each anointing represented a different stage of his rise to service. Every new level requires fresh anointing. Don’t despise the process.
