Seek God’s kingdom and righteousness first, and all other things shall be added to you
Text Psalm 37:1-9; Matthew 6:31-34
In today’s sermon, we shall look at why the believer must put God first in all they do.
According to Jesus Christ, putting God first is the right way to receive His blessings; it is the solution to the problem of worry (Matt 6:33; Psalm 37:4).
God’s divine position: Per divine arrangement, God is the first, the most prioritised, through whom all other blessings flow (e.g., 1 Cor 11:3)
God’s protection and presence go ahead of believers: If God must bless us, then he is the one who goes ahead of us and gives us victory in our endeavours (Exodus 13:21-22; Deut. 23:20-30).
To put yourself first in life instead of God is selfishness. Wherever there is selfishness, there is worry, confusion, unfaithfulness, wickedness… (e.g. James 3:16).
Putting God first in all you do shows deep respect; God will not accept any second-class relationship (e.g., Malachi 1:6-14; Romans 13:7).
