The Word of God: Solution to every problem
Text Deuteronomy 8:1-5; 2 Tim 3:14-17
Background understandings
God created the world by His word (Genesis 1-2); thus, God's word is His Spirit, which gives life (John 6:63).
God's word is above us (Psalm 138:2; John 1:14): It commands respect, and works for those who believe it.
God accomplishes its purpose; thus, God's word does not fail ( Isaiah 55:9-11; Mark 13:31).
God's word is given to us as a manual for life; to put into practice (James 1:22-25; Matt 7:21-23).
Scripture and the Bible: It is a blessing that we have God’s word in an accessible format- the Bible (Deut 4:6-8; 2 Tim 3:14-17). We don’t have to depend on Moses to go to God for the word on our behalf (Ex 20:18-21).
The role of the Holy Spirit in matters on which the Bible is silent. There are issues for which we don't have direct instructions in the Bible. In such situations, we receive revelation from God through the Holy Spirit (John 16:13; Matt 10:19-20).
Assignment: Tell us one problem, and let’s discuss a solution to the problem using God’s word
