‘There is nothing New under the Sun’ Christianity Revisited
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it (Jer 6:16)
Text Jeremiah 6:16-17; Ecclesistes 1:9-10;
There is nothing new under the Sun; let us ask where the good Way is and walk in it; what people in the past did that brought God’s blessings on them, avoid what brought God’s wrath.
Britain’s situation: teaching and preaching of God’s word are needed (Matt 28:19-20).
When people do not know God, they turn to idols for help and do evil (e.g. Judges 2:10-19). Lack of knowledge of God is due to lack of teaching and preaching of God’s word (Hosea 4:6). A Christian emphasis: we must share the gospel message globally as commanded by God
The house of David and the house of Jeroboam: a pattern of blessings or curses
The house of David refers to families who followed David's ways (2 Chr. 11:17): characterised by faith in God, temple worship, and righteousness. E.g., (2 Kings 22:2). The house of Jeroboam refers to those who follow the ways of Jeroboam (1 Kings 12:20): forsaking God, idol worship, and wickedness. E.g.(1 Kings 15:34; 1 Kings 16:26).
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of Jesus (Matt 24:37-39)
This is a necessary message to prepare the saints for the second coming of Jesus
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever Hebrews 13:8;
Jesus heals, saves, gives rest, delivers, intercedes (Acts 10:38, etc. This is a necessary message for our upcoming ‘Salvation and Healing Crusades’.
